The Broadview Hotel is such a beautiful Toronto wedding venue, and this was a particularly memorable wedding for me because it involved a little more teamwork behind the scenes than usual. The couple came to me for a custom silk flower rental order with a rich navy blue and burgundy colour palette, featuring lots of roses. Their main goal with choosing silk flowers was to save money while still having the full, finished floral look they wanted for their wedding. I created their ceremony arch flowers, reception centrepieces, table runners and personal flowers to bring everything together.
There was also a fun personal connection with the ceremony arch. The wooden arch itself was actually built by my husband. I stained it and we originally used it for our own wedding in 2023, and since then, it has gone on to be used for several other wedding orders. I love that something we made for our own wedding has continued to be part of so many other couples' wedding days.
This particular Saturday, I was actually double-booked because I also had a wedding photography job at another wedding. Instead of turning down the floral order, my husband stepped in and handled the entire setup at The Broadview Hotel. He spent the day at the venue setting up the ceremony arch, centrepieces and table runners and handing over the personal flowers to the couple. City weddings always come with their own logistical challenges, and parking in Toronto was definitely one of them, but he managed to get everything in and set up.
The couple themselves were incredibly warm and welcoming. They even invited my husband to stay for dinner and dancing, and when the ceremony was over, he helped move the ceremony décor into the reception space, including moving the arch behind the sweetheart table. He stayed through the end of the evening to handle teardown as well, bringing all of the rental flowers and décor back with him. It turned into a much longer wedding day for him than a typical setup, but it was made so much more enjoyable by how kind and appreciative the couple were.
After the wedding, the couple left such a warm review, which meant a lot after all the work that had gone into making the day run smoothly. I especially loved knowing that the silk rental option had helped them achieve the navy, burgundy and rose-filled look they wanted while staying within their budget. That's one of the biggest reasons I love offering silk flower rentals: couples can still have a full, coordinated floral design without having to spend as much as they might on fresh wedding flowers, and the flowers can be reused rather than purchased for a single day.
