If you’re planning a wedding in Toronto, you’ve probably noticed how pricey wedding flowers can be — sometimes shockingly so. It’s not just you. The “wedding tax” is real, and in a city like Toronto, where demand is high and costs are climbing, flowers can quickly eat up a big chunk of your budget.
A lot of the price comes from the supply chain. Most wedding flowers in Toronto are imported from overseas, passing through exporters, wholesalers, and florists before reaching your bouquet. Each step adds time, handling, and markup. Add in the rising costs of shipping, labour, and fuel, and it’s easy to see why a bouquet that might have cost $100 a few years ago can now be $250 or more.
That’s part of why I started growing my own flowers. At Harvest Hill Flower Farm, just outside Toronto in Port Perry, I grow, harvest, and dry all the flowers myself. By cutting out the middle steps, I’m able to offer naturally dried wedding bouquets that are beautiful, sustainable, and more affordable for couples.
Wedding flowers shouldn’t cost as much as a car payment. I know how overwhelming planning a Toronto wedding can be, and I believe couples should be able to enjoy flowers that are both meaningful and accessible. My pricing reflects the care and time I put into each stem — and nothing more.
Buying local doesn’t just make weddings more affordable; it’s better for the environment, too. Flowers grown down the road instead of flown in from another continent mean a smaller carbon footprint. It’s a choice that celebrates love, supports Canadian agriculture, and invests in the local community.
If you’re planning a wedding in Toronto and want flowers that are naturally grown, dried with care, and thoughtfully arranged, I’d love to help. Each bouquet is made by hand with flowers grown right here on the farm — no surprises, no unnecessary markups, just honest, beautiful blooms for your special day.
