When I started growing flowers on my farm near Toronto, Ontario, I was drawn to the rhythm of the seasons — planting in spring, harvesting in summer, drying slowly through fall. Over time, I came to see how beautifully that process lines up with weddings. Dried flowers carry the same sense of intention and calm that many couples are looking for on their day.
If you're planning a wedding in Ontario (or anywhere in Canada), dried flowers might just be the perfect fit. Here’s why I think they’re worth considering.
1. Dried Flowers Are Naturally Beautiful — and Never in a Rush
Fresh flowers are fleeting. They have to be delivered at just the right moment, kept cool, and used quickly before they start to fade. Dried flowers, on the other hand, are already at peace. They've bloomed, been carefully harvested, and preserved at their peak. You can receive your bouquet weeks or even months ahead and it will still look perfect on your wedding day.
2. They Last Long After the Wedding Day
This is one of the things I love most. A fresh bouquet might last a few days, but a dried bouquet can last for months or even years. Many of my couples keep theirs on display as a keepsake — a soft and lasting reminder of their wedding day. It's a lovely way to carry the beauty forward.
3. They’re Ideal for Planning Ahead or Travelling
If you’re eloping or getting married somewhere far from home, dried flowers make everything simpler. You don’t have to coordinate delivery or worry about whether your bouquet will make it through a hot car ride or an overnight trip. Dried flowers travel well when packed properly, and I include packing tips for brides who need to take their bouquet with them.
4. They’re Grown and Crafted With Intention
I grow all my flowers without chemicals or dyes, and I dry them slowly and naturally right here on my farm near Toronto, Ontario. That means what you receive is made with the seasons in mind, and with care in every step. Right now, I offer custom wedding flower orders only — no premade collections just yet. I grow what I grow, and I work with what the land gives me.
When you place a custom order with me, I won’t ask for payment until I’ve confirmed I have the flowers you need in stock. I’ll send a sample photo before we finalize anything, and you’ll have the chance to request two small adjustments per item type.
If you like the idea of wedding flowers that feel personal, seasonal, and handmade, this kind of slower process might feel just right.
5. Dried Flowers Are a Thoughtful, Sustainable Choice
Dried flowers are a great option for couples who care about the environmental impact of their wedding. I don’t fly in tropical blooms or use floral foam. Everything is grown right here in Ontario, dried without harsh chemicals, and made to last. There’s no waste, no rush, and no need to throw your bouquet away when the day is over.
Planning a Wedding in Ontario? Here's How I Work
At Harvest Hill Flower Farm, I currently accept custom orders for dried wedding flowers — including bouquets, boutonnieres, crowns, and centerpieces. I offer local pickup near Toronto, Ontario and Canada-wide shipping for an additional charge. At this time, I don’t offer delivery.
I’m currently accepting pre-orders for weddings after October 2026, once my next full harvest is dried and ready. If you’re planning ahead, I’d love to hear about your day and see if I can grow something just for you.
Final Thoughts
Dried flowers aren’t just an alternative to fresh. They’re something entirely their own — thoughtful, long-lasting, and grounded in the natural seasons of where they’re grown. If you’re looking for flowers that will hold their meaning long after the ceremony ends, they might be the perfect choice.
You can learn more about my process or get in touch here. I’d be honoured to be a small part of your wedding day.
